After School Programs: Fall 2023

We are so excited to announce another session of After School programming here at PCS!

*Offerings in Music, Drama, Art, Chess, Computer Coding and Stop Motion Filmmaking begin October 1st*

Classes are OPEN TO ALL STUDENTS (not just PCS students!)

Stop-Motion Animation with Shannon Timoney

10 Classes: Mondays, October 2nd - December 18th, 3:15 - 4:45pm

Grades 3 - 8

Fee: $350 for one child($325 if multiple children in the same family)

Maximum 15 students(minimum 6 enrollments to run the class)

This stop-motion class offers an exciting introduction to animation for students in grades 3 through 8. Participants will learn animation principles, storytelling, and film production while creating stop-motion animations. Through hands-on projects and guidance, students will develop skills in character design, set construction, and frame-by-frame animation. This class fosters teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity, providing students with a well-rounded learning experience and the ability to produce their stop-motion animations.

Computer Programming with Quincy Milligan

10 Classes: wednesdays, October 4th - December 13th, 3:15 - 4:45pm

Grades 3 - 8

Fee: $375 for one child($350 if multiple children in the same family)

Maximum 15 students(minimum 6 enrollments to run the class)

In this interactive course, students will delve into the world of programming using Scratch, the beginner-friendly coding language designed just for young learners. Through fun projects, students will learn to create their own simple interactive stories, games, and animations using Scratch all while developing critical problem-solving and computational thinking skills. This beginner programming class is designed for coders in grades 3 through 8. Everyone is welcome- no prior coding experience is required.

Express the Mess: Art Explorations with Alexa

10 sessions: tuesdays, October 3rd - December 19th, 3:15 - 4:45pm

Grades K - 2

Fee: $375 for one child($350 if multiple children in the same family)

Maximum 12 students(minimum 6 enrollments to run the class)

In this class students will be able to explore many different art making materials and create a wide variety of projects. As a class we will introduce a new material each week or every other week and in our time together we will fully explore and play with that art material and learn all there is to know about it. We will be working with materials such as paper, air dry clay, yarn, fabric, popsicle sticks, recycled materials, paint, markers, pastels and much more! Students will work independently and as a group to create projects related to each material and together we will all learn about the many methods of creating art!

Drama Club with Jenna Becker

10 sessions: tuesdays, October 3rd - December 19th, 3:15 - 4:45pm

Grades 3 — 8

Fee: $350 for one child($325 if multiple children in the same family)

Maximum 15 students(minimum 6 enrollments to run the class)

In Drama Club, children will learn about stage terminology, being an audience member and performing. We will use drama games to build communication skills through verbal and nonverbal expressions, collaboration, self confidence, voice projection, articulation with words, improvisation and persuasive speech. Together as a team we’ll use drama to express ourselves individually and together as a community.

Chess Club with Coach T, Ulysses Tapley

10 sessions: thursdays, October 5th - December 21st, 3:15 - 4:45pm

Grades 1 — 8

Fee: $350 for one child($325 if multiple children in the same family)

Maximum 15 students(minimum 6 enrollments to run the class)

Noted chess instructor Coach “T” returns to PCS for another powerhouse round of Chess Club! Lessons will include: * Chess Instruction * Guided Play * Chess Boards * Chess Clocks (timers) * Printed Instructional Handouts *

Private Lessons in Voice/Piano with Jenna Becker

10 lessons offered mondays, wednesdays *or* thursdays, Beginning OCtober 2nd

30 minute time slots available between 3:15 and 4:45 (contact catherine connelly to schedule a weekly time)

Grades 1 — 8 for Voice and Grades K - 8 for Piano

Fee: $575 for 10 thirty minutes lessons

Voice:与珍娜女士工作30分钟的私人课程towards improving musical technique. Learning about breath, registers of the voice, resonance, tone, and preparation for an audition and end of the session recital.

Piano:Students will practice note reading and playing, rhythm, efficient practicing, ear training and preparing to play for an audience at an end of the session recital.
